Gajser wears his crown for the first time in California

The MXGP world championship ends this weekend. Despite we saw Tim Gajser celebrate the title last week, there are still unknowns and incentives that invite to be attentive to everything that happens in Helen Grand. Among others, to know who will occupy the two remaining podium places. The battle between Cairoli, Nagl, Febvre and Bobryshev is matched and irregularity may cause some surprises.

It will be a peaceful race to Gajser. The Slovenian will wear the crown of world champion for the first time, but still has things to do in this championship of the world: he wants to win in the US. The 19-year rider has yet to win in America, and knows that this chance to race without pressure is unique. Nevertheless, the great form of American Eli Tomac, the winner of the last Grand Prix, makes him the favorite to take the test in their country.

Although emotion find elsewhere. The second and third place in the overall standings are not yet decided and after the disastrous weekend all candidates last week, the fight continues until the end. Cairoli, with 603 points, is clearly the favorite to finish in silver position. Only Max Nagl, with 565, can wrest that distinction, but would need a perfect weekend. The real battle, however, is in the third place. Romain Febvre, who won in California last year, adds 549 points and is a strong candidate to finish in the top-3. Farther is Bobryshev, with 522 units, and remote chances of ending up taking the bronze position. It will be an exciting ending with many things still to be decided and one certainty: we will have fun.
