Mixed results for Spain in the International Six Days Enduro

Enduro wasn’t the main event this weekend, but it was a couple of weeks before. After sixteen years without visiting Spain, the International Six Days of Enduro returned to our country to make us vibrate with its usual excitement, but ended up with not very convincing results by the Spanish expedition. In fact, we registered our best result in the women’s category.

In the men’s category, the United States led the tournament after dominate for much of the weekend. They were accompanied on the podium by the British team, which confirmed they maintain a good tradition in the off-roading, and the Czech Republic.

Spain, represented by Víctor Guerrero, Jonathan Barragán, Iván Cervantes and Jaume Betriu, was relegated to twelfth place after an unfortunate fall of Cervantes on Friday. The Spanish rider has even had to undergo surgery, a fact that detracted much of the aspirations of podium by the Spanish team.

However, in the female category there was good news. The team of Laia Sanz, Mireia Badia and Sandra Gómez, ended in a creditable and disputed second place behind Australia, who beat smugly in the tournament, and ahead of Germany. Surely the three pilots showed that they are in the elite of enduro today.

Meanwhile, young people also proved their huge talent. In the junior category, Sweden took the championship with 45 seconds ahead of the United States and Italy, while Spain finished in sixteenth place but with a very successful performance from Josep Garcia.

In overall, it’s difficult to analyze. Even though Spain is at the top of off-road, the Spanish team did not have a lucky weekend lucky and could not finish at more advanced positions that would have better reflected their position in the world of off-road today.
