Strijbos wins at home

Belgium promised a good show and it did not disappoint. In Lommel there were smiles and tears to everyone. Kevin Strijbos was the happiest person as he who won for the first time at home after so long trying. A chaotic weekend helped though, and, despite not winning any of the two races, the Belgian rider was the most consistent with two third places, along with Max Nagl, who re-signed a remarkable performance. Neither Gajser, nor Cairoli, nor Febvre could stay in the top positions in both races, although the Slovenian again proved why he is leading the standigs by winning the second race after a fall in the first test.

The weekend has a star: Kevin Strijbos. The Belgian rider sneaked among the best in Belgium and took the victory in a weekend a bit strange because of the irregularity of all the great men in the championship: Nagl, who won the first race, finished seventh in the second; Cairoli, sixth in the first test, finished second in the day number two; Gajser, fifteenth in the first race after falling, took the victory on the second day and took the third step of the podium. Meanwhile, Febvre signed a nefarious grand prix and finished fifteenth overall.

In the end, the grand prize became another important step for Tim Gajser ahead of the title. He remains the leader with 607 points and ended up losing a minimal advantage with Nagl, third overall with 490 points, 14 less than Cairoli and 26 more than Febvre. Switzerland will be the next stop the next weekend, before motocross people take a short vacation in August.

As for the Jezyk Racing Team people, Eric Leijtens signed a good weekend by finishing in fourteenth place with 17 points in total. The Dutch rider is nineteenth overall in the European EMX250, with 63 points.
